The US west coast port negotiations may have come to a conclusion last month, however industry experts are now debating whether the protracted negotiations may have caused long-term damage to the reputation of the Pacific terminals.
The CTS figures indicate that container volumes heading to the US east coast and gulf increased 26% in 2014 to 6.1 million teu, whereas the US west coast carryings slumped by 11.30% to 7.2 million teu.
Moreover, containerships continue to queue outside the Los Angeles and Long Beach port facility. Our local agent confirmed as of Sunday 1st March, there were 27 containerships waiting to berth at the port.
